Why would that be good news for this forum? Is Craiglist like an ebay for used goods that are auctioned off?

It is not only auction. It is a messageboard (kinda). I assume that this fees would create a lot of negativity and people would start to look for alternative. And here we are! :D

Yes! That's why I thought it was strange that I could offer my services here for tutoring. There is no payment for that? In the newspaper they would charge me.

Is craigslist charging for all listings or just certain categories?

Only rental listings and only in NY and few other places.
