Hello All

Thanks for all the advice, and ideas over the years....however, i need more help!

I am heading to Columbus, Ohio in August 2010 for a friends wedding.

The wedding is the Friday evening, so i thought of being in the city evening of the 4th, and leave 7th or 8th August. However, i would like to see what other areas/cities are fairly close by and would be a good experience. I would possibly like to hire a car also and do a bit of driving.

I thought about travelling through NYC, but have been twice, and fancy seeing other cities also.

Some places in the US i have always wanted to visit:

LA
Washington
Boston
Back to Florida

Any trips suggested are appreciated.

You can get to DC and Boston very cheap via express bus service.

Mega Bus is my favorite, I have used it. It is fast and cheap, and they have all new buses and free wifi! The good thing about their system is the earlier you reserve your ticket, the cheaper it is...you could get up to $1 to Boston if you reserve a month or two in advance!

Bolt bus is a similar service.

The United States is a big place! Washington D.C. is perhaps 8 hours away by car (Google maps will tell you). NYC is probably 10 hours by car. I don't know that the express buses operate in Ohio, they are an East Coast thing that started with buses between the Chinatowns of Boston, NYC and D.C.

Closer by is Cleveland, Ohio and Dayton, Ohio. Dayton has an Air Force base and military aviation museum. Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Lake Erie. Columbus has attractions as well, but none of these are as well known as New York or Los Angeles.

The 4th is a Wednesday, the wedding is on Friday the 6th, and you're leaving no later than the 8th. It's just not practical to travel very far, especially if a travel problem would prevent you from getting to the wedding on time. Columbus is in the middle of Ohio, so you'll really need to confine road travel to just Ohio.

Google says that Cedar Point amusement park is less than 3 hours away from Columbus. It's a very popular destination if you like roller coasters, and would make a good day trip if you left early in the morning.
