my names jamie, im 23 year old female from belfast ireland. i would love to come to new york march 2010 and saty until sept/oct time working in a bar/restaurant. i've beenaway the past 3 summers working so i really enjoy getting away and meeing new people and can cope with the pressure of working in busy places whilst having to adjust to living elsewhere.

i was wanting general advice along the lines of, what are the chances of work? what is accomodation prices and policies of rent like. i will probably be coming alone so its a bit daunting and any help would be appreciated!

Jamie, do you have work authorisation/visa? What kind of job are you looking for? Do you have bartender's licence? Finding work has been tough this year, because of the economy. Are you looking to stay in Manhattan? How long are you planning to stay? Do you have enough money for the down payment (First month+last months rent)? I think best bet is to look for a room/shared apartment with other roommates. There are few sites that list rooms for rent, let me know if you want me to lis them for you.
