Hi, I am moving from Oklahoma at some point over the summer and will begin my apartment search very soon. I've been browsing Craigslist, finding plenty of selection all over the place but I would prefer to narrow down my search to five neighborhoods by the time I visit in late May. I have already been pointed in Brooklyn's direction... particularly Park Slope. Any thoughts on that area or any other? I will be living alone, so safety is a concern of mine. I'm a 26 year old female. An IT professional. I enjoy the outdoors, shopping, community, hanging with my pups, sports of all kinds, playing pool, dancing the night away and kicking back with a few drinks and friends. I envision an area that easily encompasses all of these things... A younger crowd with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and parks nearby. Am I asking too much? :p That is a good question.

Hi HailsFormtheSouth,

Welcome to NYC Forum. I have few favorite spots - Park Slope is very good choice. Have you looked into Williamsburg? How much rent can you afford?

I was thinking around $1500... I could afford a little more if I needed to. What's so great about Williamsburg?

Williamsburg is a hipster part of Brooklyn. It's really close to Manhattan, a lot of restaurants and stores.

Hello! I lived in Williamsburg for a few years. It was definitely a great community neighborhood when I lived there. Any questions I can answer for you?
